The Cutest Novelty Bags You Must See

Novelty bags have been popular this year and I think they're a great statement accessory. At first I wasn't sure how I felt about this trend. Now I find that novelty bags are really cute with a nighttime outfit. I prefer smaller bags when I go out because it's less of a nuisance. When I began searching for novelty bags I was so surprised by what I found. You can find bags that resemble fuel, spray paint, a happy meal and so much more!

My favorite one has to be the glitter seashell bag!

What do you think of this trend and which one is your favorite?

Currently Loving

To start off this weeks posts, I wanted to share a few things I've been loving. Not necessarily this month, but in general these things have been great finds. I want to start branching out and sharing more than just beauty and fashion, but also music, food, books and other creatives. Check out what I'm loving below and let me know your thoughts!

I've never been the girl that got her her nails done, but these are amazing! I have yet to try this holographic trend out and I know I'm late, but it's next on my list. There are several websites that sell holographic nail polish that I'm considering purchasing. That way mesmerizing nails will be within finger tips reach!  Getting them done at a salon is great for the experience, but this particular trend can be pretty pricey.

When I saw this in my feed I wasn't sure what to expect. This is one of my favorite songs and she ended up doing an amazing job. I love that she made it into a jazzy vibe and her background singers were flawless. Give it a listen and let me know what you think!

These beaded bracelets are the perfect accessory if you want a simple and delicate touch to your outfit. You can find them in a variety of colors and they're affordable. To save even more money, try following a DIY and customize them to your liking.  I thought about making a few, adding cute charms and giving them as gifts to my friends and relatives.

So I've been loving ear jackets for a while so it will always be a favorite. This particular set is so dreamy and eye catching. If it has stars on it, I'm probably going to fall in love with it. My wardrobe tends to be simplistic and this can add a spark to my outfit.

I tried a matcha latte from Starbucks about three weeks ago and I've been hooked ever since. I had no idea what to expect, but it is the perfect blend of creaminess, green tea and sweetness. I went to another coffee shop and theirs wasn't as good so I recommend going to Starbucks if you're trying it for the first time. My goal is to find a recipe and start making it on my own for convenience and for the sake of my wallet! Have you had this? What are your thoughts?

Have a wonderful day!

The Struggles of Being a People Pleaser

I have come to terms with the fact that I was (and still am at times) a people pleaser. For the majority of my life I have always put the needs of other people first even at the expense of my own happiness. I became so consumed with solving other peoples problems that I forgot about my own. Well I didn't "forget them" I neglected them. I worried about the outcome of telling someone no. How would they feel? Would they be mad at me? Are they ok? Am I a bad person? All these possible outcomes bothered me so much that I ultimately just did whatever people wanted. I don't like seeing people hurt, and potentially being the reason was a lot to handle.

I had to realize that no matter what, I can't please everyone and why on earth would I want to? It's physically, mentally and emotionally draining. Also some people will always need something and as long as I keep answering, it won't stop. There were people that literally only called me when they needed something.  I learned It's ok to have boundaries. It's actually necessary. It's ok to put yourself first. Yes, it feels selfish, but guess what feels even worse...feeling worthless. Knowing your worth means having boundaries and not being ashamed to make yourself a priority. I was not put here on earth to solve everyones problems and live their lives for them.

Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy helping others and being a shoulder to cry on, but I'm also aware of my own needs. I'm human, I'm imperfect and I have problems too. If someone is truly your friend, they won't stop communicating if you take time for yourself. If anything, they should understand and respect your choice to take care of yourself.

As a recovering people pleaser, I am still learning and still struggle at times with saying no, but I am far happier than before!

Fall Wardrobe Essentials 2016

Soon we will have to say goodbye to early mornings and late summer nights. Some of us might have already. So in preparation for the upcoming season, I wanted to share a few pieces that are essential to any fall wardrobe. Who says you can't be fashionable while staying warm?

I really love the color "wine red" to brighten an outfit and this coat is perfect for that. The length and style of this coat will dress up your outfit and give it a classy touch. Boots are the one thing I struggle to find each fall. First, I need something that is durable to last all season and they can't be bulky or heavy. This pair is a nice color that can be paired with nearly everything and I like the lace detailing in the back. A knit cardigan is a staple that you can never have to many of. A neutral color is great for layering a colorful top with.

A lot of people dislike turtlenecks, but I think they're great. They're cozy, warm and chic. An oversized turtleneck with leggings and boots paired with accessories is an adorable and simple look for everyday. Speaking of accessories (or writing rather) this skinny scarf is a great way to dress up an outfit. Skinny scarves are great for those warmer fall days. Ponchos are a go-to if you need the extra warmth and want a boho chic look. Since they're heavier and free flowing, pair them with skinny jeans to help maintain a flattering appearance. Last on the list are these nude flats. Stylish, but still practical!

Beauty Products I've Been Loving

I don't consider myself a "makeup junkie", but lately I've been wanting to try out several products. Every now and then I think it's a good idea to treat yourself to something you normally don't buy, regardless of how small it may be.

So the first products I've been loving are the NYX Lip Lingerie Liquid Lipsticks. I wasn't sure what to expect from these, but I'm extremely impressed. The color pay off is amazing even after one coat and lasts for several hours. "Teddy" is the perfect nude for my complexion. I don't look washed out and that has always been a concern for me when trying nude lip products. I honestly think it will look great on most skin tones. "Exotic" is a warm pretty red color that you could wear alone and feel amazing. My only complaint is they can be a little sticky, but I guess that helps it last!

Next, I have been trying out the Matte But Not Flat Powder Foundation by NYX. It's decent, affordable and keeps me shine free. It's not a holy grail product, but I like it and will keep using it. I tend to go for light to medium coverage and this does just fine.

The last product I have is the BH Studio Pro Perfecting Concealer. This was an impulsive purchase. I never wear concealer and figured "why not?" I'm happy to report, this is an impulse buy that I don't regret! It's creamy, blends well and has great coverage. The four shades can be great for highlighting and contouring too.

Have you tried these products? What do you think?

Have a wonderful day!

My favorite records have to be "I Just Died" and "Why Don't We Fall in Love." Now I'm also loving her lifestyle blog full of beauty, books and fashion. Her style is impeccable and makes me want to do more than a messy bun, leggings and an oversized shirt. Not only that, she has a villain themed anthology, Because You Love To Hate Me coming in July 2017.

How To Take Beautiful Flat Lay Photos For Instagram

Scrolling through my Instagram feed has inspired me to take my picture taking skills to the next level. So many of you have beautiful photos and flawless themes that should be in an art gallery. While on my quest to a beautiful instagram feed, I have picked up a few tips along the way that may help someone improve their page!

1. Lighting- The best lighting is natural lighting so find the room where you get plenty. I happen to get the most light at 5:30 PM so before then I arrange whatever I'm using so I already have an idea of the look I want. On days where the sun isn't shining as much I use my phone to adjust the brightness. My favorite photo editing app to use is Afterlight.

2. Color scheme- To begin setting up, I pick out one item that I will work around. In the first photo I chose a magazine with the predominant color being blue. From there I gathered other objects that had some shade of blue in it or complemented the magazine well. This makes it easier to choose what items you are going to use and it looks really nice.

3. Experiment- I take multiple photos and rearrange objects repeatedly until I get the shot I'm happy with. Try different angles and spacing to get the image you want. Spacing is important to work on to prevent the image from looking cluttered and disorganized.

4. Simple background- I like simple backgrounds because it doesn't take away from the objects and they're the focal point. It's also convenient because you can reuse it for all your photos and have a cohesive theme on your page. I got mine from school and it was less than $2. Poster boards, fabric, rugs and magazines could all be used as a background.

Most importantly, have fun and be creative. It will be tempting to want to duplicate images from someone else, but experiment and develop a style that represents you!

Just BE

How many of you can truly say that you're living in the present? Do you take advantage of the entire day or are you already stressing over the days and even weeks to come? I think living in the present is something we all struggle with. There's so much pressure to have everything together and our to-do lists seem to get longer as soon as one thing gets checked off. But that's just it. There will always be something on our to-do list.

With that in mind, we should prioritize what needs to be done and what can wait. Pushing some things back on your schedule doesn't mean you don't care. It actually means you prioritized putting yourself on the list which a lot of people forget to do. Yes, you are a priority. At what point is getting every little thing done worth putting your physical and mental health on hold? You can be productive and have "me" time.

After hours of studying and typing papers or working, take an hour to get some coffee and something to eat. During that time, relax. By relax I don't mean eat and think about the million other things you're going to do once you leave. Truly relax and enjoy that moment. Savor your meal, take your time, breathe deeply and enjoy your surroundings.

Everything you're anticipating will come... and go. Let it happen when that time is here. For the time being, enjoy life for what it is right now!

Have a wonderful day!

I WANT THAT: September Wish List

With a new month, comes a new list of things I want, but probably won't buy. Not that I can't, but simply because I have too many favorites to keep track of! Some of these items have been on my list for awhile, but I'm going to keep reminding myself in hopes that I'll follow through.

First thing on my list is a lovely perfume from Anthropolgie in the scent "Honey Rose." The bottle and packaging alone sold me and now I want the entire collection. This particular scent is no longer on their website, but there are two others if you're interested. I personally want a warm romantic scent and that's exactly what "honey rose" is supposed to smell like. I tend to wear sweet scents and want to try something new.

Next, I have one of the most raved about cleansers, Grease Lighting from Lush. It's used to soothe and treat problem areas of the skin with its calming ingredients such as organic aloe vera gel and grape juice. I've had a sample size version and overall I enjoyed it. It seems like a super convenient product and I like that it's in a spray bottle for those of us that have a tendency to spill things (raises hand).

Last, but certainly not least is this hair perfume I found while browsing on Etsy (a hobby of mine). Now initially a hair perfume didn't sound like a good idea to me, but after I found this I reconsidered. This product is 100% natural, organic and vegan. To top it all off, it smells like coconut! I love that there are only 3 ingredients and I can smell like summer all year round.

What products are you admiring lately?

Have a wonderful day!
