OZ Naturals Product Review

For today's post I wanted to share with you all a product I have been using for a little while. If you have been following my blog since the beginning then you know I have used many OZ Natural products before and have loved almost all of them. Needless to say I had high hopes for this cleanser when it arrived.

OZ Naturals Ocean Mineral Facial Cleanser:

Some great details about this product, as the others include: it's made in the USA, it's 78% organic, and lastly it's cruelty free. You won't have to worry about putting any harsh parabens or sulfates onto your skin and because of the ingredients, it's known to be one of the highest quality cleansers available.

Noted Ingredients: Organic Rose Hip Oil, Vitamin E and Borage oil

The first thing I noticed when applying this product was the smell. It's very fresh and kind of reminds me of the ocean, which makes senses considering the name! It's clear and has a smooth consistency that is easy to work with. I haven't experienced any burning or irritation on my skin which is great.  It claims to give a youthful healthy glow, unclog pores, and stimulate cellular regeneration. I have noticed that pores are clearer and this product doesn't dry my face out. It does a great job at removing my foundation at the end of day and helps my face appear brighter. As far as cell regeneration goes, I can't really say. That's something I probably wouldn't be able to notice for awhile.

Overall it's a good product. I'm not blown away by it or underwhelmed. It has a nice fragrance and it's does the job as far as making my skin look and feel clean. I will say that if you have sensitive skin this could be great. It's gentle but cleanses the skin well.

Rating 3.5/5

If you're interested find it here for $22.49.

*I was sent this product for free, all opinions are my own.*

When God Doesn't Give You What You Want

This past year I encountered many difficult and annoying situations and I couldn't understand why it was all happening. Why are certain things not falling into place. Why am I still struggling? Why can't things just turn out the way I want them to? For example, my car situation. I needed a car for obvious reasons. I don't live in a huge city like Chicago or New York where it's pretty common to not drive. The car I had at the time kept breaking down as soon I had something really important to do. I felt the world was going against me and I didn't get it. I thought to myself, "I'm about to graduate from college, start my internship this summer, and then look for a job. I need a car!" Why would God not meet my needs?  I tend to look deeper into situations. Way past the obvious. So I asked myself, "What is the purpose in all this?"I knew deep down this car wasn't safe. It was an older vehicle and before it was given to me, backyard mechanics had worked on it and God only knows what really happened. As much as I didn't want to accept it, this car wasn't safe for me or anyone else for that matter.  It was just funny how it seemed fine and then when it was time for me to drive on a regular basis all this stuff started happening with it.

Now is the time where I began stressing out. Not only did I have save up for my next place, but I had a car to save for now. Saving within itself can be hard, but this just seemed impossible. I had accepted the fact that I would have to sacrifice spending money on items I wanted, but didn't really need. A couple months go by and it's Christmas time. I was very excited to see my grandparents and Mopsie (the dog haha)! I was sitting in my room alone at one point and my grandmother came in and closed the door. I was not ready for what she was about to tell me. My grandfather knew about my situation and offered to buy a car for me. Nothing like this has ever happened to me before and I still can't believe it. Almost everything I have, I bought or was passed down. All this time God had something better for me that I couldn't even imagine. Not only do I have a better car, but the money I was saving for it can go towards something else.

When we're going through hard times it's hard to see what God has in store for us. Many of us feel he's not there and doesn't see the pain we're in, but he knows long before it even happens. He has it all figured out. Our job is to just simply trust him. Knowing this is so comforting. Understanding that all I am required to do is to follow and rest in him. No, it's not easy at times, but once that realization sets in, burdens are lifted. In the end I learned a valuable lesson. Sometimes what we want isn't what we need.

Comment below a time God didn't give you what you wanted, and you got something better than you had hoped for.

"Don't be the Girl Who Didn't Go to Paris"

This title may sound familiar to some of you if you watched "The Hills". This was one of my absolute favorite shows as a teenager. While I can't really relate to the show, this particular episode resonates with me as an adult. Lauren passed up on an offer to go to Paris, a once in a lifetime opportunity. While she was able to go a few years later, she deeply regretted her decision not to at the time. Imagine being given the chance to travel to a dream destination and not going...over a boy. She learned her lesson and when the chance came for her to leave she took it. Unfortunately, not all of us are so lucky when it comes to second chances.

Being a young adult and not having any strings attached anywhere, I want to make the most of this time in my life. I don't want to pass up on an offer that could change everything. Many people don't think about how a single decision can affect their life from that moment on. Take school for example. The university you chose shaped at least four years of your life. If you went somewhere else the story would've been completely different. What if you went and auditioned, wrote the book or started a business? If there's one thing I can't stand it's "what ifs."

Time is not slowing down for anybody. Stop second guessing, doubting and making excuses. I admire anyone that pursues what they are passionate about despite all the things that could go wrong. I'd rather say "I tried and failed" than "I didn't try and now I'll never know." Even if the results aren't what you expected, there's something to take away from every situation. Ask yourself why are you not trying. Why are you passing up on these opportunities? What excuses are you making? Be wise with every decision you make, but sometimes there is no "right" time.

Rarely did I feel ready when it was time to pursue something new. I was nervous, uncertain, and inches away from backing out. When it was all said and done I can look back and say I did it. There is no wondering or any sense of regret left in my mind. I met people I probably wouldn't have known otherwise and learned a few things about myself along the way. Nothing was wasted.

What opportunity did you almost pass up on, and what did you learn?

Change is in the Air

At the end of every season marks the beginning of something new. When the snow melts and rain begins to pour, a new life is in the making. Outwardly it's messy. The ground covered in mud, the grass hasn't quite returned to its normal hue, and the temperature fluctuates from warm to cool. Moving to a new city feels the same way. Four blank walls, bare rooms, and loud noises fill the air. Doubt begins to sink in as you think to yourself, ''This is a mistake.'' Mornings will seem quieter than normal and nights will seem longer. Frequent phone calls will be made to the place you used to call home with tears running like a river down your face only to be fueled even more by the hours spent reminiscing through old photos scattered on the bare floor.

Stepping into the unfamiliar can be daunting, but remember to look to the trees. Every season unpredictable and harsh conditions cover its branches and every time it heals and returns.  Adjusting to change takes time and change is not a new occurrence. From the time we left our mother's womb to taking those first steps across the floor, to taking those last steps across the stage at college graduation, we have faced change. Each season we are left in a renewed state. The pain of leaving, growing, and adapting was not without reward.

Embrace this state in life. Open your windows wide in the morning letting the city’s sunshine greet the apartment with a warm embrace. Dance late into the night letting your worries leave with each step met with the tempo of the beat. For this is the moment where life begins and dreams become reality.

Advice to my Younger Self

☆ To my thirteen year old self,☆

What you think you have all figured out and the people you thought you knew will all change and become apart of your past. Yes it hurts to walk away from those you thought were your friends but you'll be a much happier person inside and out. Don't compromise your beliefs and who you are for the approval of others. Your self worth should never be in the hands of someone else. You and God are in control of your destiny. Remember that if nothing else so stop worrying. Worrying will create problems in your mind that don't exist and create stress that will keep you up at night. Problems come and go and pain is a temporary feeling. Feel the emotions and then let it leave you. Express yourself. You are a creative spirit and don't give yourself enough credit for it. There's nothing wrong with wanting more than what life seems to present itself with. You deserve more and should want better. You owe it to yourself and the one life you have been given.  Stop asking for advice and take your own for once You're young but so much wiser than you seem. You have the answers held deep within. Trust your intuition and discernment that God gave you. Love yourself and not just the parts that seem pretty. Love the curls on your head and embrace your long legs. Nothing about you is a mistake. You are perfectly imperfect. Say what you mean and without regret. You have a voice, use it. Make a difference. Others will need you and sometimes it will get tiring but you could be saving a life and not even know it. Follow your heart. If you don't you will regret it. Times goes by quicker than what any of us can imagine. I mean I'm writing a letter already to you and I'm 22 now! Try new hobbies. If you want to take a dance class, do it, If you want to sing, do it. If you want to write then do it. Who cares if you're not that great at first. every artist was an amateur. Lastly, forgive yourself. everyone makes mistakes, learn from them. When you know better you do better.

 I believe in you ☆

With Love,

If you could give your younger self advice, what would it be?

Top Journals for 2016

As I mentioned in my last post, one of my goals for 2016 is to keep a journal, but before anyone can do that they need to find one. I already have mine, but I want a separate one for drawing but that's besides the point. I decided to look at my favorite place, Barnes & Noble and gather a few of my favorites and share them.

1. Moleskine Journal- These are amazing and nearly everyone that owns one raves about it. If you enjoy sketching in your journal entries this will be perfect for you. The quality of the paper used is amazing and great for a variety of mediums. I personally love using watercolor and hate when it bleeds through the paper, but with this journal I'm all set! You can buy it lined or blank.

Find it here

2. Poe, Tamerlane Midi Bound Journal- When I came across this journal I was amazed at the design and colors used. The cover depicts a page from Edgar Allen Poe's first published piece. The gold writing against the deep purple hue makes it stand out against the others. It has a magnetic closure which is great if you put notes, pictures, postcards or anything else inside and want to ensure it's safe.  It's the perfect size so if you like to write on the go this shouldn't be too bulky to carry around.

Find it here

3. Kate Spade,Who Could Not Be Happy Journal- Kate Spade is hands down one of my favorite brands. From handbags, accessories, journals, clothes you name it. This journal has a sweet quote on the front written in gold foil that compliments the black background well. It's simple and classic. It has six multi-colored bookmark ribbons so you can keep track of any entries that need finishing up.

Find it here

4. World Map Watercolor Journal- If you're looking for something with a little more color and are experiencing a bit of wanderlust, this is for you. Record your travels, most memorable moments, life lessons, and deepest thoughts in here for only your eyes to see. Just looking at the cover makes me feel inspired to write about all the places I dream of seeing one day. Write it down and make it happen!

Find it here

5. Bombay Brown Leather Journal- This journal is simple in design so many people can enjoy this gem. It is made of soft genuine leather and has a tie to help keep your writings safe and enclosed. The quality of this journal is great and it's incredibly durable for those that may be a little rough with their belongings. The pages in this journal are not lined so if you're looking to draw out your thoughts and ideas this will work great. Bring this along on road-trips, camp sites, or any other adventure.

Top 4 Childhood Video Games- 90's Babies

After my first "Give Me the 90's" post I decided to make it into a series. The older I get the more I start to look back and truly appreciate my childhood. I really believe those are some of the best years of our lives. I was never really much of a gamer, but I have two older brothers that were obsessed and probably still are! I loved watching them play and following along with the story. I felt like I was there and after each level you want to know more and more and keep playing long after the sunsets. I couldn't tell you about any current video games mainly because my siblings and I live apart from each other, and they were the true gamers. I was a tag-a-long!

1. Kirby is such an adorable character and I could play this game for hours. My favorite thing about this game was watching him sing. I recently found out he is tone deaf which is pretty ironic considering singing is his favorite hobby aside from eating! Kirby lives in a magical place called Dream Land in a dome shaped house and helps save the kingdom. He has unique abilities such as inhaling his enemies and taking on their attributes.

2. Mega Man also known as Rockman is a robot character. I probably played this game the least, but it was entertaining nonetheless. In this story, robot engineer, Dr. Thomas Light created Mega Man amongst his other robotic children and has a housekeeper named Roll. They are pretty much always defeating Dr. Wily, the antagonist that wants to take over the world.

3. Mario, an Italian plumber is a classic. Even if you're not a gamer I'm sure you have seen or heard of him many times. Mario has a younger brother, Luigi and they are basically always saving Princess Peach from danger and defeating Bowser. His abilities vary depending on the type of mushroom he gets and include power jumping, getting an extra life, flying, and running fast.

4. Bomberman is a cheerful and adorable character. He can create bombs with his hands and uses them to defeat his enemies and save his home planet, Planet Bomber. I mainly enjoyed this game because he's super cute!

What are some of your favorite childhood games?

New Year New Chapter

❀ As the first week of the new year comes to an end, many of us are reflecting and trying to stay on top of our resolutions. Often times discouragement can occur if we find ourselves slipping and not as committed as we want to be. If this is you, let me just say...it's only week 1 and even if it takes you weeks to commit what's most important is trying and setting the intention to do better.  I know many people think it's cliche to have goals for the new year, but I think whatever it takes to make a positive change, go ahead and do it.

❀ A new year is honestly a breathe of fresh air. I can look at the past and see what I accomplished and the mistakes I made and see how much I was able to get through. Some years are harder than others but as long as I can see the silver lining I know it was worth it. Even if you can't find the brighter side of the past year, you still made it through and not everyone did. Try to carry this thought throughout the whole year especially when trying times come.

❀ Although this is a new chapter in life, I can already tell you it won't be perfect.Think about the best year you ever had, and I'm sure there's at least one thing that didn't turn out quite how you had hoped for. With this in mind, you still should hope and expect for the best, but don't let the unfortunate moments ruin your entire outlook on the new year.

❀  Above I made a little graphic of what I hope to carry out this year and the years to come. Sometimes we need little reminders of what life has to offer whether it is big or small. I don't know any of you personally or what your resolutions are, but one thing that is for sure is definitely take time to build a better YOU!

4 Housewarming Gift Ideas

Finding the perfect gift to give at any time can be really stressful. Buying one for someone's home can be even more complicated. Luckily there are a few gifts that are sure to be a crowd-pleaser, but most importantly to the person that is receiving it!

1. Candles- You can never have too many candles so this makes a great housewarming gift. If you know what their favorite scent is try and find something similar or introduce one of your favorites. This candle from HM has a burn time of 25 hours and only costs 12.99! Some other great places to find candles are Bath and Body Works, Target, and Bed Bath & Beyond. Soy candles are another great and healthier option. Their burn is clean and the time is generally 30-50% longer.

2. Jewelry Box- If I had a dollar for every earring I lost I could could pay off my tuition! Moving within itself is an easy way to lose items. Not only does this jewelry box make a great centerpiece, but you won't have to spend hours crawling on the floor looking for a single earring.

Find it here

3. Mug- Who couldn't use one more adorable mug? I love the gold detailing of this mug against the gray speckled surface. There are so many varieties to choose from when it comes to design, color, and even the shape! Another great place to search is Etsy if you want to have a personalized message on a mug. It's a small piece, but the thought that goes into it can truly show how well you know and care for that person.

4. Teapot- I am an avid tea drinker and would be so excited if I received this gift *hint hint*! This is a beautiful unique piece from Urban Outfitters many people would love to have in their home. This one has many different designs on it and is sure to be a conversation starter.

☆Life Lessons Learned in 2015☆

2015 has come and gone so fast and I learned so many lessons that I won't forget. This past year had ups and many many downs, but it has all shaped me into a better person. Here are my top three lessons that I want to share with you all.

1. People come and go- This was so hard for me to accept this year especially when they were people I expected to have in my life for a lifetime. The fact of the matter is sometimes we have to let them go and continue on living life. I can't control the actions of other but I can control what I do about it. For awhile I was hurt and it was all I constantly thought about. I now put that energy into being productive. This lesson helped reinforce how much I need to cherish those that are around me and have been there for awhile.

2. Don't be afraid to stand up for yourself- I am really nice person... almost too nice. I remember watching Cinderella this year and getting so frustrated that she didn't stand up to her step-mother and sisters. She was too nice. The fact is you can be nice and stand your ground. I let too many things get by this year and ended up having anger built up inside. In 2016, this is something I want to start doing for myself and carry it on for a lifetime. Know your self worth. You deserve to treated like a decent human being.

3. Failing is inevitable- I've failed at many things and will fail again. It's life and no big deal. I'm not perfect and have no desire to be. That's the one thing that makes us all relate to one another. No matter who you meet he/she will have made mistakes in their lifetime. It's a necessary part of growing and although the feeling of failure sucks, feelings are temporary. Remember that.

What life lessons did you learn this year?

December Favorites

It's hard to believe monthly favorite's posts for 2015 are over. For this last month's favorites for 2015 I didn't have much. I've been saving, and of course the holiday's just past so I also spent more time giving to others. I bought a couple products over the past two months and these few stood out from the rest.

1. Cambridge Edition 2016 Planner- This planner is so pretty and makes me want to stay organized. I usually don't gravitate towards purple or lavender but this planner was too cute to pass up on. The gold lettering and polka dot detailing really helps it stand out. I use this planner mainly for my blog and occasionally work. This year I really want to stay on top of my blog schedule and this is a great way to write down and remember any blog post ideas. I couldn't find the link for it on Target's website but you can find it there.

2. Carol's Daughter Black Vanilla Leave in Conditioner- My hair is curly so naturally it's drier than those that have straight hair. Also dying my hair black multiple times makes keeping the moisture in a bit of a task. This is for brittle and dry hair so it's perfect. It doesn't have any silicones, parabens, or mineral oil which is awesome. My hair instantly feels smoother and softer and it smells amazing. I use this after I wash my hair and finish deep conditioning. Find it here.

3. Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Polish- I was at Walgreens looking for a nude nail polish and came across this one. I rarely wear colors that aren't some version of pink/nude but this one looked festive and I wanted a change. The color is called red carpet and it's a pretty dark red with light red glitter. It lasts fairly long on my nails and dries fast. Find it here.

4. Seaweed Deep Cleansing Facial Wash- During Black Friday I went on The Body Shop's website and started browsing for any products that seemed interesting. I have yet to find a face wash that I truly love so that was my main priority. I picked this one and so far I really like it. It's for combination/oily skin which is perfect for me and my face really feels refreshed after using it. It has the same cool feeling as the Clean & Clear Morning Burst face wash. Find it here.

Cheers to a new year of monthly favs!

New Year's Resolutions

Keep a journal- Journaling is such a great way to look back over the year and see what you were thinking on a specific day in time. I have tried numerous times to keep a journal and I'll do it for a couple of days and then just quit. Pinterest has really motivated me to keep a journal. You can add inserts, drawings, polaroids, and so much more to make it even more personal. Check out my board here to get some inspiration.

Learn to play the guitar- I'm either going to get a guitar or a ukulele in the near future. It's one instrument I've always wanted to learn to play besides the harp and piano. I definitely want to paint it and add some designs or I may check out Etsy and see if anyone has some already made that I like.

Drink more water- Taking care of myself in general is always a goal, but my water intake is something I have always struggled with. Water just doesn't taste that good to me so I'm gonna try to make infused water to begin with plus it adds health benefits.

Read the Bible more- I started doing this more towards the end of this year and want to continue into the new year. It's a very important part of my life that I don't dedicate enough time to and honestly, if you want to do something you will make the time for it. I ordered some books from Barnes and Noble that should really help with this and I can;t wait to review them for you all.

Take more chances- Everything is temporary. With this in mind there's really no reason to not go after my dreams and goals. One day I won't be here or be able to pursue my dreams to the fullest. I'm 22 and not getting any younger. This is a goal I will have to remind myself of time and time again, but it's necessary to achieving the life I know I deserve. I don't want my age to define me and what I am capable of doing. So many people tell themselves, "oh I have until I'm *insert age*" but why wait? Do it now.

Now that you know my resolutions, what are some of yours?

Have a Wonderful Day and New Year!
