My Favorite Christmas Traditions

The most wonderful time of the year is right around the corner! It's so strange looking outside and seeing Christmas lights, but not a single snowflake in sight.  A huge part of me is happy that I won't have to worry about shoveling or tripping on ice, but it is beautiful to watch the snow falling from inside with the fireplace going.  Christmas is such a warm and loving time and I always look forward to it especially since I live 3 1/2 hours away from my family.

Decorating the Christmas tree- I sadly haven't been able to do this for awhile because our living room doesn't have enough space. Now that our basement is refinished we could, but I don't think that's going to happen. Regardless it's such a fun activity to do with the family. Everyone comes together with decorations adding his/her own personal touch. My favorite moment is when the star is finally put on top and the lights are turned on making the tree sparkle.

Watching holiday movies- Our favorite movie to watch this time of the year is The Grinch. I love the version with Jim Carey. My mom and I probably like it more than anyone else in the house. For the first time this year I watched The Polar Express after I heard so many good things, and not to mention it has been on at least 5 times this month. The animations in this movie are incredible and magical, but it still doesn't beat The Grinch!

Giving gifts- I love giving gifts because not only is it an excuse to shop, but I get to find something for loved ones that I truly believe in. I love seeing their expressions when they open the package and their face is beaming with excitement. There's no better feeling that putting a smile on someone's face.

Christmas dinner- Even though I put this last it might be my favorite one. I'm a foodie and I have no shame! I'm also not much of a cook so this is the time where I get to eat yummy food that I wouldn't be able to cook otherwise! My grandmother makes the best desserts especially sweet potato pie. She's been watching what she eats lately, but I'm gonna talk her into make me some.

This beautiful time of the year has so much to offer and be thankful for. What are some of your favorite traditions? Comment below!
